Kengo Kuma's New Vancouver Skyscraper Warps Against the Wind
The 43-story building is meant to preserve neighboring views.
Japanese architect Kengo Kuma has just revealed his latest design project in Vancouver, Canada. The residential skyscraper is located in the city’s downtown neighborhood, absorbing waterfront views from Coal Harbour.
The jaw-dropping curved structure arches at the midpoint and mimics Vancouver’s modern environment. The 43-story tower naturally aligns with surrounding buildings, while the bent outline preserves neighboring sights and delivers intense light to all apartments.
The building’s perimeter is made from glass and aluminum panels with extensive balconies that allow for increased room ventilation. The ground floor will house an open-air amphitheater with wooden lattice detailing, mirrored columns, and an enchanting Fazioli piano. Further amenities include an indoor pool with kigumi decorations, a cork-lined listening room, and an authentic Japanese restaurant.
