Following the departure of labelmates T.O.P, Taeyang, and Daesung, BIG BANG‘s G-Dragon‘s exclusive contract with YG Entertainment has now expired. After spending 17 years with the company, the K-pop superstar has now ended his relationship with the entertainment agency. It is currently unclear if G-Dragon will be negotiating a new contract, moving towards a new company, or going independent.

According to reports, YG Entertainment confirmed the official end of the BIG BANG member’s contract after debuting in 2006 as the leader of the iconic K-pop group. “The exclusive contract with G-Dragon has expired,” said a company official said. The official also noted the possibility of “plans to discuss an additional contract with G-Dragon when he resumes his musical activities.”

It is interesting to note that speculation for the end of G-Dragon’s exclusive contract with YG started earlier this year when the artist was not included in the company’s business report for the first quarter of 2023.
