First released in 1987, Double Dragon became a popular beat ‘em up style co-op arcade video game. Since its inception, the franchise has grown over the decades to encompass a range of titles across all major gaming consoles. Now, the franchise is reaching back to its beginning with its forthcoming Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons.

Fostering a sense of nostalgia, the new game reinstitutes the allure of vintage co-op fighting games. The game’s retro pixelated design is a standout feature, which transports players back to their favorite arcade. Additional features include a selection of 13 characters and a new tag-team ability. Leading the storyline are the characters Jimmy and Billy Lee who find themselves in a pseudo post-apocalyptic New York City.

Check out the trailer above for a look at what’s to come. Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons is set to launch this fall on all major gaming consoles.

In related news, Convergence: A League of Legends Story will launch on Switch next month.
