Sony Pictures first teased the Resident Evil: Death Island movie with a 30-second teaser back in February. Now, a much longer official trailer confirming the movie’s Japan premiere date has been dropped.

Although intended as a sequel to the 2017 Resident Evil: Vendetta animated feature, Death Island follows the events of the Resident Evil 4 game, while the former film’s premise takes place between Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil 7. In Death Island, the narrative centers around Leon S. Kennedy’s rescue mission of Dr. Antonio Taylor. As revealed in the action-packed trailer, fellow surviving protagonists from the franchise will also be joining Leon on the mission, this includes Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Rebecca Chambers, and Jill Valentine.

Resident Evil: Death Island is set to premiere in Japan on July 7, 2023. In the meantime, enjoy the official trailer above.

In other entertainment news, HBO Max officially confirms the Harry Potter series adaptation.
