Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo has unveiled its highlights ahead of the Geneva Watch Auction: XVII, which opens for preview on May 10 before the live auction on May 13 and 14 at the Hôtel La Réserve. The sale includes some of the most sought-after timepieces from the 20th and 21st centuries at various price points.

In a statement, Alexandre Ghotbi, Head of Watches, Continental Europe & Middle East, and Tiffany To, Head of Sale, said, “The Geneva Watch Auction: XVII is probably the most tightly curated auction we have had the pleasure of organising at Phillips. We have selected around 200 watches for their quality, rarity, interest and overall relevance. We have something for every budget, from the budding enthusiast to the most seasoned collector.”

Among the timepieces, the auction features a slew of designs from Patek Phillipe, including one of the most revered watches from the second half of the 20th century: the perpetual calendar chronograph reference 2499. At the sale, Phillips offers a first-series edition of the watch in yellow gold from the family of the original owner. Additionally, the sale will include a second-series version in pink gold and a third-series iteration, formerly owned by Mel Blanc, the voice actor behind Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck.

On the Rolex lineup, Phillips hosts the very rare reference 6270, a yellow-gold manual Daytona that includes baguette diamonds and a pavé dial. The company will also auction off the reference 6541 Milgauss, a timepiece that was initially crafted for scientists at CERN, with original guarantee, a hang tag, a chronometer certificate and preservation in excellent condition. Rounding out the range, Phillips is selling the reference 6232 two-counter chronograph in pink gold, from the son of the original owner.

From Vacheron Constantin, the auction features a 222 “Jumbo” in white gold, a once-unknown timepiece that changes scholarship; and from Audemars Piguet, Phillips offers an “exceptionally well-preserved” chronograph with full calendar indications in yellow gold. Meanwhile, A. Lange & Söhne‘s platinum Datograph, which was constructed as a 10-piece limited-edition timepiece for Pisa in 2004, is also up for bidding.

As for independent watchmakers, the sale will feature the Philippe Dufour Grande & Petite Sonnerie pocket watch N°1, which was built for Audemars Piguet in the ’80s, and a Simplicity timepiece in a white gold case. The Naissance d’Une Montre 2, an original handmade, white-gold wristwatch from Robert Greubel, Stephen Forsey of Greubel Forsey and Felix Baumgartner and Martin Frei of Urwerk, will also be available.
