Nicholas Daley Joins Forces With Sub Sun for '60s-Inspired Sunglasses
The collaboration includes one frame, available in two distinctive colors.
London-based designer Nicholas Daley has enlisted Sub Sun, a unisex eyewear label run by Bradley Zero, for a Spring/Summer 2023 collaboration, titled “Calypso.” The capsule, which effectively merges both label’s design codes, features one playful frame, inspired by the popular styles of the 1960s worn by the likes of Harry Belafonte and Sidney Poitier.
Made with Mazzuccelli Acetate, the design makes a bold entrance, with an exaggerated, curved shape and attention-grabbing colored lenses. Among the range, two distinctive hues are available: green and purple.
“I am very excited to collaborate with Sub Sun frames for this SS23 season,” said Daley in a statement. “Even more exciting is working together with long-time friend of the brand and past season collaborator Bradley Zero, founder of Sub Sun, on this exclusive frame and supporting another independent business through our creative worlds.”
“When it came to making our first designer collaboration, there was no discussion,” added Zero. “It had to be Nicholas Daley. It’s a natural partnership and an honor to be working with such a talented peer who has proven, time and time again, to be a true champion of the community, a voice of the diaspora and a real innovator. For us to be collaborating on these frames is a beautiful, full circle moment.”
The Nicholas Daley x Sub Sun collection will launch on April 30 at select retailers and on both Nicholas Daley and Sub Sun’s websites. Peruse the line in the gallery above.
