The Karl Lagerfeld Macau, an opulent five-star hotel designed by the late Karl Lagerfeld at The Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, is slated to open in June 2023. From its lavish interior designs and its massive installations to its detailed bathrobes and bedsheets, the top-class edifice is the only hotel in the world wholly designed by the late visionary.

The Karl Lagerfeld Macau marks the latest addition to SJM Resorts S.A.’s ever-expanding roster of fine vacation destinations. Inside, the bespoke hotel houses 271 grand rooms, the Mesa Restaurant, which serves from a menu crafted by award-winning chef José Avillez, a palatial Book Lounge with 4,000 hand-selected reads and a spa center, which includes both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool.

“Karl Lagerfeld’s design concept stemmed from a sophisticated reimagining of modern Chinoiserie fused with traditional craftsmanship, bold colors and patterns meet tailored silhouettes,” according to a release.

The rooms and suites reflect the game-changing designer’s sartorial sources in classic Chinese design and modern Western codes. Headboards draw inspiration from Chinese coins representing good fortune, while porcelain vases, made in Jingdezhen, decorate each space. Elsewhere, Lagerfeld tapped Dutch artist Marcel Wanders and French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel for specially-commissioned furnishings.

The Karl Lagerfeld Macau will open with a multi-day celebration in June. Take a look at the property in the gallery above.
