Quentin Tarantino is reportedly getting ready for his 10th and final film, The Movie Critic.

According to reports, the filmmaker has finished writing the script and is preparing to direct it this fall. Plot details remain under wraps, however sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that The Movie Critic will be set in Los Angeles in the late ’70s with a female lead who may be or inspired by Pauline Kael, the famed movie critic known for writing unorthodox critiques that influenced the sphere.

Tarantino has been open about retiring once he hit the age of 60, which will be this year, and has released a total of 10 movies. In a 2021 interview with Bill Maher, he explained that based on the history of film “directors do not get better” after their 10th film. “I haven’t retired yet; I still have another one to go. I don’t have a reason that I would want to say out loud that’s going to win any argument in a court of public opinion or a Supreme Court or anything like that,” he continued, “But at the same time, working for 30 years doing as many movies as I’ve done, which is not as many as other people, that’s a long career. That’s a really long career. And I’ve given it everything I have. Every single solitary thing I have.”

Stay tuned for more details.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Oscar Isaac is in talks to portray Kurt Vonnegut in Amazon’s Helltown.
