Is This Balenciaga's New Trash Bag?
The Crush Tote features a similar calfskin leather sack construction, with drawstrings and, now, a chain.
Balenciaga knows how to break the Internet — just look back at its viral Trash Bag-bag if you need a reminder. Now, it looks like the Demna-helmed House might be about to do it again with its new Crush Tote bag, which in many ways feels reminiscent of the Trash accessory.
Not only does the Crush Tote sport a similar sack design, it continues a number of elements that echo its big brother. For example, all three — the medium and small bags in either black or white — are made from calfskin leather, and both can be carried like a bin bag. However, elevating the new piece is the chain, coming in either aged-gold or aged-silver tones.
Elsewhere, branding is printed onto the piece instead of embossed, and the lining is canvas, not leather. A drawstring closure system has been added à la Trash Bag, knotting at the top for extra realism.
The small versions retail for $2,250 USD, while the medium comes in at $2,500 USD. Take a closer look at the item above, and pick one up from Balenciaga boutiques or online now.
