Whether it be chic office-ready suiting or refined asymmetrical cut dresses, the Paris-based brand, ABRA, has fused the coolness and warmth of post-modern dressing. But what continuously makes its cadence particularly interesting is the inclusion of varying styles and the commitment to building upon sources of inspiration. Now for the Fall/Winter 2023 season, the brand’s founder/creative director Abraham Ortuño Perez brings a fused medieval core to his new collection.

For the Spanish designer, his life experiences remain a driving force in his designs, whether it be from his work with Jacquemus and others to his own namesake label. This time, the designer digs into his childhood love for 80s animation films like Lord of the Rings and Heavy Metal to fuel the latest collection’s design cadence. Refined, yet versatile in its ability to hit the street, dinner table or evening soiree, the collection aptly channels medieval elements while staying forward facing. Oversized button-down shirts in silk were paired with relaxed jeans, while dressed appeared in silk, velvet, vinyl and cotton fabrications with eye-catching crunched detailings.

Other oversized button-down shirts appeared in traditional cotton with gingham prints and dual sleeves. But what made them pop was their styling with wide-cut elongated shorts and leather boots. Additional collection highlights include deep acid-wash coordinating sets, a cardinal red leather wrap coat and leather bomber jackets in slate, black and fuschia. Whether it be a jacket, t-shirt and floor-length dress, Perez’ latest reveals a keen focus on the fun of bringing nostalgia into the modern day.
