Sneaker and Street Culture Exhibition Sneakertopia Lands in Singapore
A dynamic playground showcasing the rarest kicks and larger-than-life artworks.
After previewing at Culture Cartel last December, Sneakertopia now unveils a full exhibition at the ArtScience Museum that will run from February 25 to July 30. The Sneakertopia: Step Into Street Culture showcase will feature over 100 limited-edition shoes alongside murals, installations, designs and artworks that span the genres of sports, entertainment, music, fashion and more.
Sneakertopia debuted in Los Angeles in 2019 as a platform for two massive sneakerheads — Emmy-award-winning producer Steve Harris and Silicon Valley tech entrepreneur Steve Brown — to celebrate the art and culture of their coveted kicks. Part sneaker vault, part pop art gallery, the event marries an extensive collection of grails with the works of American artists like McFlyy, Michael Murphy and Mimi Yoon to explore street and pop culture in the US.
For the Asian and Southeast Asian premiere, the works of 17 locally-based creatives will also be presented, including Jahan Loh, Sam Lo, tobyato, soph O, Kristal Melson and design collective PHUNK. Additionally, international artists smoluk and Tommii Lim have created never-before-seen site-specfic pieces for this edition.
Sneaker fans can get an up-close look at the personal collection of vintage Air Jordan Ones and original Dunks by venerated sneaker artist and local streetwear designer Mark “Mr Sabotage” Ong, as well as the prized possessions of Mandopop superstar JJ Lin and Limited Edt founder Mandeep Chopra.
Tickets are available for purchase from February 25 at all Marina Bay Sands box offices and website.
