BED j.w. FORD has focused on channeling the childlike curiosity and wonder of imagination for its Fall/Winter 2023 collection. Entitled “twinkle twinkle little star,” the brand’s latest aptly expands its design catalog while also offering up eye-catching newness.

In conceiving the new collection, brand founder/creative director Shinpei Yamagishi was inspired by the experiences of his childhood and the mystical aspect of fairytale versus reality. But beyond just the scope of digging into his own experience, the collection was specifically fueled his youthful admiration of city life – from the people to the streets.

“It’s the imaginary childhood built by digging out my own memories,” said Yamagishi. “Or in other works, it’s like a one-act road movie capturing the sights of a father figure that I admire and dream about.”

Tailoring continues to be a focal design aspect as the collection presents an image of both refined and reimagined classic cuts. Classic blazers are layered with multiple mao collar tops, suiting comes to play with deep blue corduroy fabrics complimented by gold star buttons, overcoats come in both structured and relaxed configurations and pants aptly fit the mood of various styles.

Knitwear pieces come to life through relaxed button-down shirts, a brown mustard turtleneck sweater with button detailing, a green slouchy turtleneck sweater and broad sweater vests. Complimenting the tops is a range of solid-color and graphic print trousers in both straight and relaxed fits. Although a large portion of the collection features classic shades of black, navy and eggshell white, Yamagishi taps into the childlike imagination with multicolored prints alongside pops of parakeet green, rust, cardinal red and soft purple.
