Adidas Honors Kareem Abdul-Jabbar With Limited-Edition "Evolution of Excellence " Sneaker Collection

In celebration of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar‘s legendary basketball career, adidas has released a limited-edition “Evolution of Excellence” collection. The release features three pairs of adidas Forum sneakers, each of which commemorates a significant part of Abdul-Jabbar’s life and career. As a nod to Abdul-Jabbar’s jersey No. 33, only 33 pairs of shoes will be produced for each of the designs.

The first of the three is the adidas Forum Alpha which arrives in a blue and gold color scheme. The shoe commemorates his remarkable 88-2 college career, where he won three consecutive championships. The shoe is only available to the first 33 people who become VIP members of Club Skyhook on his website. Dressed in a material reminiscent of chenille patch fabric with a nubby texture, the shoe also features gold accents on the Three Stripes and “33” branding.

The second shoe of the collection sees the adidas Forum Accolades in a purple and gold color scheme to pay homage to his Los Angeles Lakers era. The shoe incorporates specific insignia and major milestone moments during his NBA career. Dressed in an off-white tumbled leather upper, featuring gold stitching and purple accents for the Three Stripes branding, the shoe will be available to purchase at a soon-to-be-announced Los Angeles retailer.

The final shoe is the adidas Forum Legacy in an all-black and copper colorway. The shoe honors the player’s fight for racial equality and social justice during his career and after. The shoe is exclusive to adiClub members on February 28, 12:01 a.m. Those interested can signup at no cost on the adidas app or online. The entire “Evolution of Excellence” collection in size 16 is slated to be signed by the legend himself and will be available for a charity raffle at Crypto.com Arena until the end of the month.

The collection launches on February 28.
