Adidas Cycling Gives the Velosamba a Clean Vegan Makeover
Featuring two-bolt cleat attachments under the sole.
The adidas Originals Samba is one of the Three Stripes’ most beloved styles, growing in newfound fame as of late thanks to a recent Palace x Lucas Puig rendition and numerous collaborations with the likes of JJJJound, Pharrell’s Humanrace, and Wales Bonner. Now, adidas Cycling returns to a pair it introduced in 2021 — the Velosamba — with the announcement of a new vegan offering.
Arriving in “Cloud White/Team Navy Blue 2/Better Scarlet,” the Velosamba seen above is indeed made from vegan-friendly faux leather that’s made from at least 25% recycled content, leaning into adidas’ sustainability initiatives. In addition to this, we find faux suede paneling on the toe, contrasting faux leather zig-zag-cut stripes on the mid-panels, and a contrasting heel tab to boot.
Underpinning the sneaker is the sole unit, which comprises a gum full-length reinforced midsole and the two-bolt cleat on each foot, allowing you to lock your Velosambas into your bike pedals for an efficient, secure ride.
Stiff nylon is added to the insole to create a flat surface for the foot to rest on, enhancing the cycling experience with greater feel, while light tread rounds out the cycling sneaker.
Take a look at the adidas Cycling Velosamba Vegan in the gallery above, and head to adidas’ U.S. website to pick the style up now for $130 USD.
