This week, the tech industry saw Threads, Meta’s competitor to X, finally make its way to Europe. Tesla, meanwhile, gave the public a look at its second-gen Optimus robot for the first time and demoed some of its impressive features.

On the hardware side, Apple is reportedly planning to update the iPad Pro in an attempt to differentiate it from other iPad models. And Beats, one of the most collaborative audio brands on the market, tapped Stüssy for a new edition of its Studio Pro headphones.

Below, Hypebeast has rounded up the top tech stories of the week so you can stay up to date on trends in the industry.

Threads Has Finally Rolled Out in Europe

When Elon Musk announced X would be limiting the number of tweets a user can view in one day, Meta jumped on the opportunity to launch its own text-based platform, Threads, early. The app made its debut in the US in July and has since expanded to over 100 other countries.

Despite its growth, Threads hasn’t been available in Europe due to regulatory restrictions – that is, until now. Mark Zuckerberg announced the news, writing, “Today we’re opening Threads to more countries in Europe. Welcome everyone.”

Tesla Shared a Look at Its Latest Optimus Robot

Tesla has launched a second-generation model of its Optimus robot. The humanoid machine was unveiled with footage showing off some of its capabilities. Compared to the previous model, the second-gen version has improved dexterity and balance and is even lighter.

Its hands feature 11 different points of movement, making motions seem more humanlike. In the video, the bot demonstrates how it’s able to handle an egg without breaking it.

Apple Will Reportedly Unveil its Revamped iPad Lineup in March 2024

Apple is reportedly planning to clean up its iPad lineup in 2024. Over the past few years, the company has continuously been rolling out new models. On the site, Apple currently offers the mini, a standard older-gen, a standard new-gen, the iPad Air and the iPad Pro. Needless to say, it gets confusing for customers who aren’t sure what model fits their needs.

In an attempt to amend that issue, Apple will be revamping the Pro to make it more clear why its priced higher than the Air, according to Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter. These changes would include updating the Pro with the M3 chip, replacing its screen with a new OLED version and selling it in bigger size options.

Stüssy and Beats Linked Up for the Studio Pro Headphones

Beats seemingly always has a new collaboration in the works and for its latest effort, the audio brand has tapped Stüssy. The two companies have engineered a special edition of the Studio Pro inspired by the look of skateboard wheels.

The frame of the headphones comes in a deep grey tone while the earcups are a soft beige. Stüssy is printed across the headband and appears on the interior of the ears.

Retailing for $349.99 USD, the Beats x Stüssy headphones are available online and at select stores.
