Travis Scott and John McEnroe Serve Up the Cactus Jack x Nike Attack
Two rebels, two eras, one major end-of-year collab.
Travis Scott and Nike are serving up one more ace before the year is over, as they’ve officially announced the release date for the long-awaited Cactus Jack x Nike Attack. As revealed by Scott himself during a performance at E11EVEN back in May, the new style takes John McEnroe’s famed 1984 signature model — originally called the Mac Attack — and remixes it with some key details any Scott fan will be familiar with.
Where Scott’s previous Nike and Jordan Brand collaborations often displayed bold material alterations or enormous additions (think his efforts on the Air Jordan 6 or Air Force 1), the Attack largely maintains its original construction and color scheme. It’s made of mesh and leather and dressed in the same navy/grey color scheme it debuted in the mid-’80s. However, someone as bombastic as Scott can only be so restrained, and his personality is on full display with a signature, jumbo-sized backward Swoosh on the lateral midfoot plus a Cactus Jack logo embroidered on each heel.
This A-list collaboration will be the final Nike Attack push of 2023, following a guerilla marketing campaign that showed a staged video of Scott and McEnroe arguing over the shoe’s name on a video call and McEnroe telling a “paparazzi” that the shoe should be named the “Cactus Mac.” Expect it to be released via Travis Scott’s website and Nike SNKRS on December 19 with a yet-to-be-revealed retail price.
