Sustainable outdoor apparel brand Paka has officially introduced its PAKACLOUD™ fleece. The unisex silhouette is made from the brand’s innovative PAKACLOUD™ polar fabric, a first-of-its-kind material using natural alpaca fibers sourced in the mountainous region of Cuzco, Peru. Paka continues to push for innovation with its unwavering eco-conscious mission. Currently, over 95% of fleeces on the market are made from synthetics and are one of the biggest sources of microplastic pollution from the apparel industry. The PAKACLOUD™ fleece is crafted from Traceable Alpaca fibers and reduces microplastic shedding by over 50%.

The natural fleece is not only soft-to-the-touch but also has advanced thermoregulating capabilities that provide superior heat retention — it delivers twice the warmth compared to conventional synthetic options. Additionally, the alpaca fibers are composed of hollow air pockets, allowing the PAKACLOUD™ fleece to possess half the weight of an industry-standard fleece jacket. The reduced weight, along with a quarter-zip design, delivers various layering options for optimal warmth, no matter the environment.

The fleece’s other outstanding details include flatlock stitching at the inseams to eliminate odor, chafing and discomfort. For easy storage and reduced bulk, the jacket features two flat side pockets. Like other Paka gear, each fleece includes a handwoven Inca ID displayed on the back collar. The commemorative badge pays homage to the hundreds of Quechua women, indigenous to Cuzco, Peru, who are employed by the B Corp. To emphasize the brand’s production transparency, each piece also displays a scannable QR code, detailing which farms sourced the alpaca fiber.

For Paka, the PAKACLOUD™ Fleece is a notable addition to its ever-expanding range of sustainable and utility-centric offerings. The garment aligns seamlessly with the brand’s core mission centered around providing eco-friendly alternatives to traditional outerwear. It also continues to celebrate the Quechua weavers and the brand’s Peruvian heritage.

The PAKACLOUD™ Fleece retails for $165 USD and is available for purchase on Paka’s website.
