Beyoncé Finally Drops "Grown Woman" on Streaming
In celebration of a decade of her self-titled album.
After 10 years, Beyoncé has finally offered the official streaming release of her deep cut “Grown Woman” from her self-titled album from 2013. An early Christmas gift to her fans, Beyoncé commemorates a decade of the album. When the song first came out, the project was only available as a video on YouTube when the album celebrated its first anniversary. The bonus track was on the Beyoncé visual album, but was not part of the 14-track record.
The rollout of the album was released as a surprise drop on Apple Music on December 13, 2013 without any promotion. The album sat at No. 1 just three days afte the release on the Bnillboard 200. The song was co-written by Beyoncé, The-Dream, Timbaland, Kelly Sheehan, Garland Mosley, Chris Godbey and Darryl Pearson. With 145 million views on YouTube, “Grown Woman” was a track that the Beyhive have wanted to stream for ages.
On Thursday, Beyoncé shared an Instagram post to look back on her accolades and the success around the album. In the background of the video, someone can be heard on a call with mild confusion, “She’s making an album and every song has a video, and they’re all being released at the same time. So is this something, you know, that she talked to you about?” Beyoncé narrates in a voiceover, “I still get scared before every album release. I’m constantly searching for the deeper purpose for my art…I don’t want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want my record to come out when it’s ready, and from me to my fans…This album is the anti-perfection.”
