Ressence Unveils the TYPE 1 DX3: A Collaboration With Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons
First revealed during Dubai Watch Week.
Ressence, known for its Blegium-designed, made-in-Switzerland watches, has unveiled the TYPE 1 DX3, a limited-edition timepiece created in collaboration with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons.
The watch marks the culmination of a six-year partnership between the luxury retail group and the independent watchmaker, bringing together the intricate patterns of Arabic mosaics and the finesse of cloisonné watchmaking, first shown at this year’s Dubai Watch Week.
Ressence and Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons’ TYPE 1 DX3 represents the third and final chapter in a trilogy that has showcased the elegance of Arab Geometric Art through each watch’s design. This model continues the legacy of its predecessors, in that it offers a unique interpretation of Arab art. The watch’s dial expresses a graphical pattern inspired by Arab Geometric Art, with its rose gold color palette designed to evoke the hues of the desert, embodying a seamless blend of different cultures and trades.
“This trilogy demonstrates that at first sight different cultures and trades share a common and universal understanding of aesthetic balance,” said Benoît Mintiens, the Founder of Ressence. ‘The appreciation of rhythms, patterns or color is a collective good beyond our origins,” he said, adding “We are extremely proud and thankful for the result generated by this beautiful and ambitious collaboration.”
The DX3’s dial exhibits a masterful arrangement of colors, with darker shades radiating outward from the central sub-dials. In low light, the cloisonné design on the dial reveals its true elegance, emitting a gentle green glow thanks to the grade-A Super-LumiNova paint that also adorns the hour markers.
Fashioned on the T1° Round, the latest iteration of the TYPE 1, the DX3 features a new pebble-looking case, offering a tactile experience as smooth as its appearance. Complementing the launch of the DX3, Ressence introduces its first book “Arts & Crafts in Motion,” limited to 200 copies. This publication delves into the synthesis of Arab Geometric Art and Horological Decorative Art within the DX trilogy.
As for the watch itself, the TYPE 1° DX3 will be showcased at Dubai Watch Week from the time of writing until November 20. Available in just 35 examples, the collaborative timepiece between Ressence and Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons is available to purchase via inquiry for 23,600 CHF or $26,568 USD.
