Karlie Kloss To Acquire i-D Magazine
From model to investor turned CEO.
Model and newly-minted entrepreneur, Karlie Kloss is set to acquire i-D Magazine.
For the past decade, the quintessential British fashion and culture publication has been under the wings of Vice Media. Now with Kloss entering the mix, the St. Louis-raised model is expanding her career as an investor and entrepreneur. Previously, Kloss was the lead in a group of investors, which includes the likes of Kaia Gerber and Lewis Hamilton, who acquired W magazine in late 2020 with Bustle Media Group as the publisher.
The acquisition occurs through Kloss’ Bedford Media, which will become i-D Magazine’s parent company. Additionally, Karlie Kloss will serve as i-D’s chief executive officer and Bedford Media’s chairwoman. i-D’s current editor-in-chief, Alastair McKimm, will become the brand’s chief creative officer and global editor-in-chief.
To note, Vice Media Group filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May but was saved by its lenders including Fortress Investment Group, Monroe Capital and Soros Fund Management. With Kloss now at the business helm, the magazine is set to continue its operations.
