It’s confirmed that this year’s Only Watch charity auction will be postponed until sometime in 2024. The decision was made by the Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies (AMM), the founding group who have been organizing Only Watch auctions since its first edition, in 2005. Since its inauguration, the auction has always been held with the goal of raising funds to help accelerate research into a treatment for the rare genetic disease known as Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

According to an official statement, “questions were raised about the allocation of funds and the governance of the AMM.” While the association provided answers regarding its funding strategies, accounts, and budgets, it wasn’t enough for clearance at the time of certification.

This announcement was made less than a week after Audemars Piguet’s confirmation to withdraw from the auction. The biennial auction was originally scheduled to take place in Geneva on November 5, where the majority of the participating timepieces will return following its world tour across eight major cities. From the original list of participating Maisons, Patek Philippe has yet to reveal its auction.

Only Watch founder and AMM chairman, Luc Pettavino notes, “We will continue to move forward, providing even more information on the virtuous and extraordinary actions we have achieved thanks to this dynamic. The agility that characterizes us has enabled us to make exceptional progress. One of our greatest joys is knowing, as we write these lines, that a group of children and young adults have been included in a clinical trial made possible by the Only Watch funds. It’s tangible, concrete, and gives hope of a cure. That’s what’s important.”
