Honey Dijon Tunes into Johnnie Walker Blue Label’s Blending Process to Produce New Track
Celebrating the launch of its limited-edition Elusive Umami.
To celebrate the launch of its limited-edition Elusive Umami, Johnnie Walker Blue Label teams up with DJ and producer Honey Dijon to release a dedicated track and music video. The new track looks to heighten the drinking experience with sound, riffing off flavor profiles within its melodies.
The latest addition to the Blue Label line comes crafted by master blender Dr. Emma Walker and Michelin-starred chef Kei Kobayashi. Reimagining the striking umami taste, they introduce blood orange and red berry notes with sweet wood spice and a hint of smoked meat to the scotch whisky. These flavors are then matured in a unique oak cask from the brand’s library of 25,000 wooden barrels.
For the accompanying track, Dijon taps into this blending process by using PlantWave™ technology to extract vibrational sounds from the oak tree used to mature the whisky. These biorhythms result in deep, atmospheric beats which are carefully intertwined with the DJ’s signature upbeat music to create “Earthly Delights.” Developed alongside Dr. Walker, Dijon hopes the new track will redefine the connection between sound and taste as well as change the way we create the “perfect celebratory moment.”
Reflecting on the partnership with Johnnie Walker and her new track, Honey Dijon says, “I pride myself on being a sonic storyteller. Transforming the biorhythms into music was something that interested me because music and rhythm exists in all parts of life. Creating music from plants added a random dimension to my process, which was cool.”
