Jordan Brand has unofficially called 2023 the “Jordan Year” and it will be celebrating all year long with a series of special initiatives. First up on its list? The Beaverton imprint has partnered up with Sotheby’s to conduct an exclusive auction for 23 pairs of Notorious B.I.G. x Air Jordan 13s. The love letter to the iconic hip hop artist was initially crafted in 2017 to celebrate Biggie’s 45th birthday, but they’ve resurfaced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of hip hop and self-belief.

Styled with a relatively understated presentation, the kicks are anchored by a faded black hue that seeps into the pockmarked overlays, as well as the suede tongues, mudguards and toe boxes. Direct shout-outs to the Brooklyn rapper can be found via the tongues that display a silhouette of his face along with the tongues that split their branding between “It was all a dream” on the right shoe and “If you don’t know, now you know” — lyrics from his hit record “Juicy.” Hangtags with Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation branding come with the kicks, and the aglets are fitted with “dream” spell-outs in red font. Additionally, the insoles have been adorned with black and red plaid patterns and are stamped with “Notorious B” hits on the heels.

23 pairs are now up for bidding starting at $1 USD here through February 3, 2023. All proceeds from the auction will go towards the Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation which works towards empowering inner-city youth with educational learning instruments, grants, mentorship programs and sponsorships.
