Hed Mayner FW23 Is All About Balance
Revealing a Reebok collaboration on the runway.
Hed Mayner‘s Fall/Winter 2023 runway collection strips down to the basics, this time focusing on the dominant traditional silhouettes brought on by classic tailoring.
Different from previous collections where oversized proportions were the mainstay and focal point, this season saw balanced mechanics and proportions at play. Suiting jackets now had the opposite effect of the oversized look, where the jacket appeared to be treated more as a second skin than an overcoat. The pieces still remained their box-cut nature, where curves were not defined, giving it a quintessential winter look. Baggy pants were also paired with tight blazers and all-too-big shoes, giving a dynamic sense of movement to the outfit.
The collection takes into consideration the idea of a young boy taking his grandfather’s and father’s clothes. The sense of borrowing provokes a youth-like ideal to the collection. From voluminous overcoats to high-waisted pants and formal double-breasted coats sliced into a cropped jacket, proportions have been shrunk down to cater to the youthful aesthetic.
This season also saw the reveal of its Reebok collaboration which included the co-branded Classic Leather sneaker, washed and bent into shape to feature a flatter toe line. Two tracksuits were designed to mimic wrinkled textures and merge an SS23 blouse shape with Reebok’s signature motifs.
