Drôle de Monsieur Finds the Pulse of Elevated Ease for SS23
Paying homage to Portuguese earthenware, Azulejos.

Optimism has remained a core value of the Dijon-based brand Drôle de Monsieur since its 2014 founding by Maxime Schwab and Dany Dos Santos. Whether it be its recently released Holiday 2022 collection or its new offering for the Spring/Summer 2023 season, the brand manages to find the connection between elevated ease and pragmatic comfort.
Even though these sensibilities reign for SS23, what brings the collection to life is its tribute to traditional Portuguese earthenware, Azulejos. By looking inward at their heritage, Schwab and Dos Santos’ latest serves as a reminder of unwavering cultural beauty. Collection pieces like knit jackets, relaxed button-down shirts, polo shirts and crewneck sweaters are livened by ornamental patterns and Azulejos prints.
Outside of these ornate designs, the collection also includes an array of uniform-inspired streetwear like carpenter pants, corduroy pants, supple cardigans, embroidered shirts, classic shorts, Cuban collared shirts and more. Whether it be street or lounge-ready looks, the pieces exist in rich hues of ocean blue, sunny yellow, terracotta, cactus green, deep earth, beige and navy blue.
