Prior to his passing, Off-White™ visionary Virgil Abloh solicited the sartorial perspective of legendary pro skater Sal Barbier, with the intention of crafting a pipe-ready capsule collection for today’s burgeoning multi-hyphenates. In collaboration, the two creatives operated under a shared mission: “take the best of the 1980s skate scene, improve it and make it relevant in the now.” The result was a range of youthful apparel merging Barbier’s distinctive designs with signature Off-White™ emblems, out today.
Thanks to Barbier, the label’s classic arrow motif appears entangled with a mean-looking rattlesnake illustration in an all-grey colorway, across the line. A standout, the slithering symbol takes over the back of dark blue hoodies, sweaters and T-shirts, as well as a light-wash denim jacket. Meanwhile, jagged-yet-striking chromatic strips decorate the arms and legs of top and bottom silhouettes alike, prescribing an unexpected dose of color to each piece. And in accessories, the collection offers a dark blue baseball cap donning the aforementioned snake-covered icon.
Elsewhere, the collection offers up a pair of black and white sneakers, embossed with the label’s signature pull tag and arrow motif but made original again with Barbier’s snake-inspired logo work. Like similar Off-White™ footwear offerings, the silhouette’s outer layer is constructed with a mix of leather and PVC, and its sole is comprised of rubber.
The Off-White™ c/o Sal Barbier collection is now available to shop on the brand’s website, with prices ranging from $335 USD to $940 USD. Take a look at the range in the gallery above.
