Amidst the growing prevalence of Game Pass subscriptions and free-to-play titles, publishers like Sony Interactive Entertainment and Ubisoft are gearing up to usher in a new era of next-gen gaming. Unfortunately for gamers that already think the current $60 USD price tag for new games is already high, we will soon see highly-anticipated games released for $70 USD or even more.

The more expensive era of console gaming is a result of the ongoing inflation felt around the world and the outlook of publishers. The games coming to next-gen consoles like the Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X|S also require longer development tied to the increase of resources required to achieve a game that matches the gaming technology landscape available.

It is also interesting to note, publishers will no longer offer free next-gen upgrades that allow gamers to purchase titles for older consoles at lower prices.

Take a look at some of the major titles set to release this Fall and early next year that will cost $70 USD or more below.
