MADSTORE UNDERCOVER Works With magma for GILAPPLE Keychains and Figures
An update of Jun Takahashi’s longstanding motif.
The iconic UNDERCOVER GILAPPLE motif was first introduced as a symbol for Jun Takahashi‘s Spring/Summer 2009 season collection — encapsulating the relationship between the recurring characters GILLA and GRACE with human society. The apple lamp now resurfaces courtesy of a collaboration between MADSTORE UNDERCOVER, the brand’s sublabel looking to explore the dark pop world with more casual pieces, and magma, the artist unit formed by Jun Sugiyama and Kenichi Miyazawa.
New silhouettes include the “GILAPPLE LIGHT MAN” figure featuring the apple motif mounted onto a baton-wielding, built figure and “GILAPPLE LIGHT HAND KEYCHAIN” featuring a lamp with a handheld base and gold keyring. Objects are crafted using scrap wood, resin, and electrical devices.
The head of the “GILAPPLE LIGHT MAN” figure is the previously-released “GILAPPLE LIGHT” made with MEDICOM TOY and only one item for each color will be available exclusively at MADSTORE UNDERCOVER Laforet Harajuku. The keychains are set to hit the UNDERCOVER website and MADSTORE locations September 10.
