Since launching her eponymous label in 1994, Isabel Marant has embarked on a journey to create her ideal Marant personality — bold yet summoned by hints of grunge and bohemian chic. The designer’s laidback approach is constantly at the fore, and season after season, Marant proves effortlessly cool style is here to stay.

Fall 2022 saw Isabel Marant deliver a range submerged in metropolitan rock n’ roll. Mega-oversized nylon bombers were paired with matching bottoms in hues of red, while city girls were dressed in glistening sequin coats and leather trousers that spoke to the liberating post-pandemic era.

For Spring/Summer 2023, Marant chose to kick it back to her ’90s debut, exploring her humble beginnings alongside references from late photographer Corinne Day (a Kate Moss OG). The co-ed collection saw men and women as city soldiers, intermixed with the recognizable design language that has lifted Marant to the top of the game.

In the womenswear department, vintage influences held their ground through low-waisted leather skirts, intricately embroidered dresses and haltered flowy ensembles that oozed with Y2K flair. The Hadid sisters also graced the runway, Gigi sporting a washed camouflage jacket, while Bella was third in line, wearing an innocent black dress adorned with geometrical detailing at the chest.

Menswear kept it sleek and simple, perfect for coastal beach days or summery nights. Sandy crochet tops were matched with slouchy cargo pants and smooth leather capris. Long-sleeve tops decorated with fringed edges and deep V-necks oozed with summertime elegance, alongside unfurled button-downs and utilitarian boiler suits.

Isabel Marant SS23 was an exhibit of everything that has made the label what it is today. Fluid, effortless, and free.
