COS SS23 Serves Up Contemporary Sophistication for NYFW Debut

Filled with attractively clean silhouettes.

With a reflective runway and the inspiring New York City skyline serving as the show’s backdrop, COS’ NYFW debut was full of refined grandeur. As the London-based brand’s Fall/Winter 2022 showing sat in one of the world’s largest cities, it only made sense that the debut foray tapped into the surrounding culture.

COS is known for its signature approach to minimal, yet clean silhouettes. But the new collection clearly showcased that the entity has a few more tricks up its sleeves as the garments clearly took COS’ cadence to the next level. Tailoring of course reigned supreme, but pieces like overcoats, button-down shirts, suiting, knitwear and more were met with oversized silhouettes, crisp lines and attractive fabrications. For example, a brown-hued zebra print pattern graced a mohair buttonless overcoat while another trenchcoat was done up in supple merlot-colored leather.

But the collection’s attention to precision did not end there. Other key ensembles included a brown minimalist coordinated set, sleeveless tops with plunging v necklines and double-breasted suiting. Regardless of the piece, COS’ usage of cotton, wool, tweed and leather fabrics in classic hues alongside pops of purple, lime, goldenrod and lime added new vitality to timeless silhouettes.

Finishing off the pieces are brightly-colored accessories like extra-long scarves, fuzzy clutch bags, crochet-style crossbody bags and leather handbags.

Take a look at the collection in the gallery and video above.

In other fashion news, Peter Do’s cerebral introduction of menswear was done in grand fashion for SS23.
