Producer Sounwave began working with Kendrick Lamar over a decade ago on the rapper’s self-titled debut LP. Since then, he’s contributed to every single one of Lamar’s studio projects, from the Black Panther soundtrack to his latest album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.

On Mr. Morale, Sounwave worked on the majority of the project’s tracks, from “United in Grief” to “N95” to “Die Hard” featuring Blxst and Amanda Reifer.

Less than three months after the release of the long-awaited Mr. Morale, Sounwave revealed that he’s already working on the next Lamar album in an interview with Complex.

Asked about the timeline for his projects with Lamar, Sounwave told the publication, “Oh, we always start, immediately after. Like, we’re starting on the next one now.”

“That’s never going to change, all the way from the Kendrick Lamar EP,” he continued. “The next day, we started on Section.80. It’s just the ideas never stopped.”

Sounwave also shared that the main reason he accompanies Lamar on tour is to “create the next album.” Lamar is currently touring Mr. Morale across the United States, followed by a European leg this fall.

“We can’t skip a beat. We have to just keep it going. There’s no breaks,” Sounwave said.

In other music news, Rina Sawayama dropped an introspective “Hold The Girl” visual.
