Seiko has dropped a new blue-dialed version of its historically inspired Speedtimer Chronograph.

In 1969, the Seiko 5 Speedtimer became one of the world’s first automatic chronographs to go on sale. This model, based loosely on the original, takes its deep blue dial and red chronograph indications from that watch.

The watch’s Calibre 8R46 also uses the same column wheel and vertical clutch chronograph architecture as the original Calibre 6139.

New Blue And Red Collar Scheme Taken Directly

Seiko revived the Speedtimer as an automatic model back in March – to celebrate its role in the World Athletic Championships – after producing a number of solar-powered Speedtimer models.

The new piece is presented on a stainless steel bracelet and is supplied with an additional leather strap.

The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer SRQ043 chronograph drops in September, priced $3,200 USD.

Elsewhere in watches, Kurono Tokyo to drop first calendar watch.
