One of the NFL‘s most promising young quarterbacks has officially joined the world of Fortnite. Kansas City Chiefs‘s very own Patrick Mahomes is now a playable character in the game, becoming the first NFL player to join the Fortnite Icon series. The series aims to celebrate some of the most dynamic cultural figures by bringing them to the Fortnite audience.

Players will get a chance to choose between two Patrick Outfits for their in-game character. With the new character, it brings forward Mahome’s gladiator mindset and his distinct love fo ketchup. The Patrick Mahomes character also arrives with in-game accessories and his signature Showtime Emote which will become available for purchase in the Fortnite Item Shop on August 24. Additionally, fans can play in the tournament and compete in the Patrick Mahomes Cup on August 23 for a chance to receive the Mahomes Outfit and Back Bling earlier. In celebration of Mahomes in Fortnite, fans will get a special Tailgate Gladiators exhibition on display in the parking lot of GEHA Field At Arrowhead Stadium before Patrick and the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, August 25 in Preseason football.

In a statement regarding joining Fortnite, Mahomes said,

“Getting to be a part of a game that I have played for so long is a dream come true. We incorporated my signature style from head to toe, had some fun with my love for ketchup and you know I had to flex on them with the bionic arm. It was awesome to be involved every step of the way on the creative and design of my Outfit. The creative team at Epic Games crushed our vision – watching a side by side of my Emote and my actual signature celebration is pretty wild to see. Can’t wait for fans to see it.”

Elsewhere in sports games, PGA Tour 2K23 has a release date.
