The varied career of artist and designer Jaime Hayon is set to be explored in a new book by Gestalten, coming out next week.

Hayon’s work, from large-scale buildings to pint-sized ceramics, has a distinct identity. His use of color makes the designer’s portfolio feel undeniably positive – and his playful nature has become somewhat of a signature. The “Jaime Hayon” publication features texts by design critic and curator Marco Sammicheli and takes a closer look at his creative practice to date.

Of the book, Gestalten says:

“Welcome to Jaime Hayon’s beautiful world: mysterious ceramic creatures, finely crafted objects, and the warm pastel colors of his Mediterranean home.

This book is a compilation of Jaime Hayon’s outstanding work, exploring his relationship with materials, his theory of color, his technique, inspiration, and his creative process.”

Jaime Hayon founded his own studio in 2000, having graduated from an industrial design course. Since he has gone on to work with some of the biggest design brands on the planet – creating collections for the likes of &tradition and Cassina. Recently, he worked alongside an in-house team to create interiors for the new Standard Bangkok, which is instantly recognizable as a project of Hayon’s. “Blurring the lines between art, decoration, and design, Hayon’s creations are full of playfulness and optimism,” the publisher adds.

Expect to see detailed photographs of his work, imagery of him creating some of his most iconic products, and deep dives into his process penned by Sammicheli. “Jaime Hayon” publishes on August 9, as a follow up to Gestalten’s previous book about the designer “Works”, and will retail for £45 (approximately $55 USD).

In other design news, Dior Maison has enlisted the skills of French designer Sam Baron to create a collection of outdoor furniture.
