Marine Serre's FW22 "Hard Drive" Collection Lookbook Serves Night-Luxe Opulence
While nods to Celtic culture, punk rock and vampy couture also make an appearance.
Marine Serre‘s Fall/Winter 2022 “Hard Drive” runway show was the designer’s first physical appearance since the start of the pandemic, and it was a true return to form for the LVMH Prize-winning French fashion designer. Now, her eponymous label has presented the FW22 collection lookbook, proving a closer look at the Celtic references that frequented the runway show.
Punk and nods to the 1960s and ’70s make an appearance throughout the “Hard Drive” collection, punctuated by plaid and black-and-white geometric patterns that encompass structured silhouettes such as two-piece suits, car coats, and deconstructed patchwork coats that veer towards vintage Vivienne Westwood cues.
The punk tones are echoed by Benoit Bethume’s styling, which sees models clad in a retro ensemble of diamond argyle knitted patchwork, coming together on slip dresses or combined with heavy metal motifs that are cut up to create skirts and more. Marine Serre’s signature moon logo is knitted into lacey numbers, while fingerless glove sleeves add to the punk rock of it all.
However, a dark and sensual note also features in the lookbook with a scene that’s giving night-luxe opulence, as silky and lace dresses billow from cold shoulders covered in chains and crushed red velvet with a rose pattern grows over bodies and faces. A combination of camouflage and doilies brings in Marine Serre’s sustainable thread, while references to Scotland and Celtic designs make another appearance with the label’s mythical green satin dress.
