STAPLE x Octopus Celebrates Pigeons, Tentacles, New York and Milan

Jeff Staple‘s eponymous New York-based imprint STAPLE and the Milanese label Octopus have partnered on a capsule collection that brings their two worlds together. Titled “MI-NYC,” the collection highlights the partners’ respective homes while connecting the dots between the two’s imagery, that being tentacles and pigeons.

Throughout the collection, you’ll find garments limited to just 50 units per piece that focus on screen-printing, embroidery, garment dying or jacquard weaves to explore the world of textures, definition and design through the art of the brand’s pigeon and tentacle motifs. For example, this comes together on a screen-printed T-shirt that sees the embroidered pigeon logo sit atop a black base that soon becomes the formation of tentacles, falling down into a light pink backdrop.

This is flipped and reversed on a pair of matching shorts, coming together for a complementing two-piece look. Another, brighter pink, tee is garment dyed, making the tentacles almost disappear into the base top, while the pigeon sits proudly on the front. Again, the use of dye techniques and the cross-pollination of oversized logos appears on the single hoodie.

To bring the collection together even more, STAPLE and Octopus have commented on the distance between their two homes by adding a “Porte Adresse” luggage tag to each piece.

STAPLE x Octopus will release in the U.S. on July 22 on the STAPLEPIGEON website, while those in Europe can cop the collaboration now at the Spectrum store in Milan and online through Octopus and STAPLE’s EU sites.

In other news, Supreme and Louis Vuitton are rumored to be working together for a Fall/Winter 2022 collaboration.
