This season sees the return of ASICS’ GEL-1090™ silhouette, reinterpreting the everyday runner-turned-style icon in an array of plush materials and muted colorways.

Originally released in 2004, this take on the classic model offers a pared-back design, stripped of its sporty, metallic tones and vibrant overlays. Adopted by the streetwear community, this revamped iteration comes dressed in premium suede, soft leather and semi-translucent TPU tiger stripes with colorways in “Oyster Grey”, “Cream/Jade”, “Glacier Grey”, “Cream” and “Frosted Rose.”

With the intention of keeping comfort at the forefront, ASICS incorporates the latest innovations from its GEL series which come embedded in its raised heel. The sneaker’s streamlined shape and mesh paneling also remain intact, adding to its functionality and breathability. Other features on the model include embossed branding on the toe box, tongue and heel overlay, as well as rope lacing tinged in similar tones to the sneakers’ colorways.

When paired with its technical makeup, the sneaker’s revised versatile and minimal aesthetic takes wearers from day-to-night with ease. ASICS hopes that this contemporary redesign will become a staple for more active individuals, revealing a new campaign featuring the dynamic daily lives of creative director Copenhagen-based Freja Wewer and Dutch model and writer Chaima el Haddaoui.

Take a closer look at the sneaker in the snapshots from the campaign above.

The new ASICS GEL-1090 v2 is out now on its official website and global retailers.
