Versace's SS23 Collection is Built on Unexpected Juxtapositions
A reflection of the “Versace Man” with a statement to make.
Setting up at Milan Fashion Week Men’s, Versace showcased its latest reflection of the “Versace Man.” Built around existing in-between unexpected juxtapositions, the Spring/Summer 2023 collection is an expression of “fun and formal, bravado and sensitivity, Baroque and pop.”
Tapping the sons of Versace runway icons Mark Vanderloo, Helena Christensen, Andre van Noord, Carla Bruni, Megan Douglas, and Angela Lindvall, the presentation developed a sense of “youthful openness, optimism, and energy.”
Outlining the fresh outlook of the storied luxury fashion house, oversized silhouettes offered generous forms around freedom while body-tight tops maintained the allure of Versace. Versace diamond slashed bottoms formed purposeful disruption and helped introduce the boldness continued by python print leather and other leather-look styles. It is interesting to note that the label looked towards eco-sustainable latex, faux leather, to further its sustainability aims. Bright styling is continued with the graphic prints emblazoned in pop colors across shirts and T-shirts to set Versace’s new visual signatures.
Aside from the objects from Versace Home clutched on the runway is the La Medusa Hobo Repeat, an archival Versace hobo bag re-edition in an XL shoulder size, along with other bags, accessories and shoes.
