Roger Dubuis Drops Lamborghini-Inspired Excalibur Spider Huracán MB

Roger Dubuis is marking its debut as Official Timing Partner at Goodwood Festival of Speed with a hypercar inspired timekeeper.

The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Huracán Monobalancier is the latest watch inspired by the brand’s partnership with Lamborghini.

The watch takes its color palette from the Huracán GT3 EVO2 and carries over a number of other visual cues including Lamborghini’s signature hexagonal honeycomb.

Roger Dubuis has created a 45mm case in its proprietary Mineral Composite Fibre (MCF) material in pure white and dial accents in green, red and yellow with a white rubber and green calf leather strap.

The watch’s twin barrel automatic RD630 calibre features an inclined balance wheel and wheel rim winding rotor. The 88-piece limited edition is available now via Roger Dubuis, with price to follow.

This weekend Roger Dubuis is hosting VIP clients and welcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed visitors to its booth for watches, drinks and watchmaking classes, where HYPEBEAST caught up with Roger Dubuis CEO Nicola Andreatta.

What’s your strategy in becoming the new timing partner of Goodwood FOS?

It’s always emotions, finding the right experiences for our clients to live their life at Roger Dubuis, the Roger Dubuis way. So, motorsport, adrenaline,  strong emotions are part of the brand DNA and there’s no better event – in Europe at least, we also do Pebble Beach in the US – the perfect celebration of car culture and the perfect moment for us to invite our clients and present who we are.

Is this also the brand further leveraging its automotive partnerships? Would you be here if you didn’t already have relationships with Lamborghini and Pirelli?

I’m not sure, apart from the strong emotions and the adrenaline, this racing spirit, achieving, going beyond is what Roger Dubuis stands for. We talk about Pleasure, Madness and Freedom as the three values which underline the excess at Roger Dubuis, you can find all of that at this place. Our clients are people who pamper themselves with the best things in life.

Tell us about the new watch.

More and more we are trying to match specific events with specific timepieces. We’ve talked about emotions, how better to encapsulate emotions than buying a watch which reminds you of a specific moment and that’s why we came up with this watch, which replicates the livery of a Lamborghini GT3 EVO2 and it’s the perfect place to launch such a piece. The colors remind you of the racing spirit, there’s a little bit of Italy in it, it’s a mix of everything we stand for.

What makes Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini such a good fit?

It’s about sharing the same values, Lamborghini is the car brand which most closely matches what we do with watches. It’s not the normal supercar, it’s a bit louder, it’s a bit more powerful, it’s the perfect incarnation of hypercars and when you talk about hyper watches, we are the perfect incarnation of that.
