Yohji Yamamoto's Ground Y Enlists Calligrapher Souun Takeda for FW22
Offering both colorful and monochrome ink-splattered outwear.
Yohji Yamamoto‘s unisex sublabel, Ground Y, has released the lookbook for its Fall/Winter 2022 collection featuring designs from world-renowned calligrapher and artist Souun Takeda. The upcoming collection is a practice of mindfulness. The very act of “changing clothes” is a change of mind that in turn, changes one’s feelings, standing, demeanor, and appearance. “What and how one wears expresses one’s own state of mind,” writes the description.
Through bold inscriptions, patterns, strokes, and splatters, Takeda encourages the mind-body connection, putting thought into the essence of what it means to get dressed. Silhouettes are long and elegant featuring a range of dress coats, asymmetric shirts, long-sleeve crewnecks and more.
Take a look at the full Ground Y FW22 collection above and look for the series to arrive at Yohji Yamamoto’s online and physical stores on July 22.
