Expanding its range of culinary expression, the Bronx-born culinary collective from Jon Gray, Pierre Serrao, and Lester Walker, Ghetto Gastro, recently announced its debut book release. Titled Black Power Kitchen, the hardcover from published by Artisan Books is a celebration of Black culture. The cookbook, manifesto, and strikingly beautiful work of art serves to “spark conversation about inclusion, race, access, and how food—and knowing how to cook—provide a path to freedom and self-empowerment.”

Also marking the 10th-anniversary of Ghetto Gastro, the book features 304 pages with 150 color photographs and is written by James Beard Award-winning writer Osayi Endolyn. Black Power Kitchen features 75 mostly plant-based recipes, immersive storytelling, diverse voices, and striking images and photographs that inspire larger conversations about race, history, and food inequality.

The book’s cover and interiors were designed by New Studio, and features work by Nayquan Shuler and Joshua Woods.

Ghetto Gastro’s Black Power Kitchen is available now for pre-order wherever books are sold with an official release set for October 18.
