A Huy Fong Sriracha Shortage is Coming
The condiment could be hard to find very soon.

Huy Fong Inc., the name behind the popular Sriracha condiment, has announced that it is expected a major shortage in the coming weeks after halting production. “Unfortunately, we can confirm that there is an unprecedented shortage of our products,” Huy Fong Inc. said in a statement. “We are still endeavoring to resolve this issue that has been caused by several spiraling events, including unexpected crop failure from the spring chili harvest.”
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has faced a chili pepper supply shortage, further exasperated by severe weather conditions that negatively affected the quality of peppers. Huy Fong Inc. already noted that it would not be accepting any new orders placed before September and that orders made before Labor Day would be fulfilled in the fall. Adding, “we hope for a fruitful fall season and thank our customers for their patience and continued support during this difficult time,” in a statement.
The production issues not only affect Huy Fong’s signature Sriracha sauce but its Chili Garlic and Sambal Oelek products as well. It is also interesting to note that many have already started to stockpile Huy Fong Inc.’s products ahead of the expected shortage.
