The classic Aliens franchise is now receiving a new tactical strategy game from Tindalos Interactive, Focus Entertainment and 20th Century Games. Unlike its recent survival shooters, Aliens: Dark Descent will be a single-player experience where gamers will take charge of commanding a tactical squad of marines that embark on missions from an original storyline, thrusting them into the wrath of the terrifying xenomorphs. You’ll be able to change various weapon and gear load-outs for your team members, upgrading their armor and abilities as you progress through the levels to better suit your own playstyle and the task at hand.

While the trailer mainly showcases cinematic scenes and only offers a short glimpse at what its gameplay may look like, the isometric view and tactical, perma-death elements definitely remind us of the XCOM franchise. “Embark on high stakes missions in treacherous territory, all the while gathering resources to fix up the stranded Otago spacecraft and researching tech upgrades for your crew,” reads the game’s description over on YouTube. “Players will command a squad as one unit thanks to intuitive controls, allowing their Marines to automatically prioritize and execute complex actions in real-time, based on their respective skill sets and the environment around them.”

No precise release date has been provided yet by the studios, but Aliens: Dark Descent is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2023 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Elsewhere in gaming, Saber Interactive has dropped a new developer update trailer for Warhammer 40: Space Marine 2.
