Are we the sum of our own actions, or the sum of our own objects? A new book investigates this question through a compendium of curated items from the far throes of culture to meditate on notions of identity in the midst of our product-oriented society.

Created by Studio Zsofia Kollar, Object-Oriented Identity: Cultural belongings from our recent past was in part created out of a fascination to understand the nature of our consumption. By linking disparate objects and their seldom-known histories, readers will be reintroduced to familiar items and question that ways in which these objects transform or manipulate one’s identity.

As technology continues to bridge the gap between man and machine, the book offers an enlightening and somewhat chilling exposé on how our tools are continuing to shape us and how to “cope with that shaping in the time of hyper-change.”

Published by Art Paper Editions (APE), OOO is an edition of 700, spans 216 pages and available to purchase for €25 EUR / $26 USD.

Also in the news, Cali Thornhill DeWitt presents “Live Forever 2” at HVW8 Berlin.
