Richard Prince Collaborates with Dr. Romanelli on New Furniture Collection

Artist Richard Prince and designer Dr. Romanelli have collaborated on an exclusive collection of furniture, now on sale at the Gagosian Shop on London’s Burlington Arcade. Created for Prince’s Katz + Dogg brand, which he founded in 2019 with a line of smoking products, the pieces are intended to have a “hippie-stoner inspired aesthetic”, and see Vintage dickies, fleeces, quilts, Snoopy patches, Carhartt overalls, weed pins, and old military wear patchworked together to create upholstery.
The collection is made up of five pieces in total: two armchairs named I am Perfectly Calm, and Champion Mushroom, and three ottomans named Workwear, Orioles, and Colour Belt. Each will be on sale during Prince’s takeover of the Gagosian Shop, which launched in April 2022 and sells prints and editions, Gagosian publications, rare books, exhibition posters, and artist-designed objects and apparel such as jewelry, sculpture, and decorative items.
The space, designed by Sterling Prize-winning architecture firm Caruso St John, will also include Prince’s books, posters, and other merchandise, a selection of other pieces from the Katz + Dogg line, a recent painting, and a grouping of “High Times” drawings (2019) that have never before been exhibited.

The takeover coincides with Prince’s latest Gagosian exhibition, “Hoods”, which is the first show dedicated to his body of work and covers over 25 years of practice. All pieces in the show have been selected by Prince himself and will be installed at Gagosian, West 21st Street in New York until June 25.
In other design news, an exhibition that blurs the boundary between art and design is presenting the weird and wonderful side of New York’s design scene.
