On-Foot View of J Balvin's Air Jordan 2 Collaboration
The reggaeton artist reworks the Jordan model with padded uppers and playful graphics.
Sneaker brands nowadays are on an all-out foot race to align with the biggest music artists to promote collaborative projects, and Jordan Brand is certainly one imprint that is flourishing in this category. Its roster currently holds global icons such as Travis Scott, Billie Eilish and J Balvin, the latter of which will be expanding his range with a fresh Air Jordan 2 makeup this year.
After completely reworking the Air Jordan 1 High for his inaugural collaboration with the sportswear giant in 2020, the reggaeton crooner has opted to be just as whimsical for his next offering. Quarter panels and collars trade out their usual leather builds for a sky blue ripstop material that comes in padded form, and the lower heel pieces and interiors have been completely covered in cloudy graphics. Balvin’s signature smiley face logo arrives on the lower rear end and the lace tips bring in further details as they are swathed in a bold pink tone. Furthermore, the ball-and-wings logos that appear on the tongues and the outsoles are crafted to glow in the dark.
No official release information has been confirmed just yet, but note that the kicks should be dropping sometime in 2022.
