Tobey Maguire to Portray Charlie Chaplin in 'Babylon'
Starring alongside the likes of Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt.
Tobey Maguire is set to portray Charlie Chaplin in Damien Chazelle’s highly-anticipated film, Babylon.
The news arrives a year after Maguire’s casting news and was confirmed during CinemaCon, with attendees watching never-before-seen footage at the event. Variety reports that Babylon, which is set in the ’20s and focuses on Hollywood’s adaptation of talking films, seems like a combination of Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood thanks to its “loud music, dazzling costumes and next-level makeup.”
Joining Maguire in the cast are Brad Pitt, who plays John Gilbert, Margot Robbie, who plays Clara Bow, Max Minghella, who plays Irving Thalberg, Spike Jonze, Jean Smart, Flea, Samara Weaving and Olivia Wilde.
