New 'The Northman' Character Posters Spotlight Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Björk and More

Focus Features on Wednesday shared new character posters for The Northman, Robert Eggers‘ upcoming Viking revenge epic.
The new imagery sees Alexander Skarsgård as Amleth, Nicole Kidman as Queen Gudrún, Anya Taylor-Joy as Olga, Björk as The Seeress, Willem Dafoe as Heimir the Fool and Ethan Hawke as King Aurvandil. Each poster features the film’s tagline, which reads “Conquer Your Fate,” alongside captivating, straight-faced shots of each character.

The film, which takes place in 10th-century Iceland, is “an epic revenge thriller that explores how far a Viking prince will go to seek justice for his murdered father,” according to Focus’ official description. Production first began in Northern Ireland in March 2020 before being postponed to August of that year due to the pandemic.
Eggers, who co-wrote the script alongside Icelandic poet and novelist Sjón, worked with cinematographer Jarin Blaschke and editor Louise Ford on the feature. Producers include Lars Knudsen, Mark Huffam and New Regency.
