Sony Is Asking Developers to Build Time-Limited Demos to Pad Out Its PlayStation Plus Service
The new Game Pass alternative launches this June in the Americas.
Sony‘s revamped PlayStation Plus service is set to launch on June 13 for the Americas, and the company is now reportedly asking game developers to create time-limited demos to pad out the upcoming Game Pass alternative. While the top tier of the new PlayStation Plus will offer gamers more than 700 titles at launch, it’s important to note that the service won’t be getting any day-one releases like Microsoft‘s Xbox counterpart.
In hopes of persuading more fans to subscribe, reports are now suggesting that the Japanese gaming giant is asking video game developers to make longer, exclusive demos for its subscribers to try out. New games that are priced above the $34 USD mark and not VR releases will be required to satisfy this requirement from Sony, and the demo must be released within three months of the game’s launch, and they’ll have to be available for at least one year.
While it might not make up for the lack of day-one launches, the move nonetheless gives players more to experience given that the top tier subscription will cost $18 USD a month, $50 USD for three months or $120 USD for a year.
