To celebrate its 46th-anniversary, alongside the delivery of Issue 900 back in March, the iconic Japanese magazine POPEYE has officially launched its online store. Announced last week, the move to create its new digital platform conveys the magazine’s outlook of not being bound by the idea of just “information.” The launch of the online store is accompanied by the release of the “POPEYE Special Logo” merch collection.

The offering focuses on the signature POPEYE logo, conceived by famed art director, Seiichi Horiuchi. Aside from creating the logo back in 1976, Horiuchi also designed every POPEYE magazine in the 1970s.

The POPEYE Special Logo range features a variety of items and aims to continue the reverence for fashion, music, movies and food associated with the magazine. The hoodies and T-shirts found in the collection feature a relaxed fit and utilize sustainable American-made ECOCYCLE®︎ bases. Each style is also marked with a special “P” tag with “for City Boys!” on the back. Accompanying the apparel are similarly marked items like an onsen (hot spring) towel, envelope bag, patterned tape and stickers.

Check out the range above and head over to the POPEYE online store to shop the inaugural merch release now.
